Dillian Whyte rips Usyk, says he “tries to be weird”

By Charles Brun: Dillian Whyte makes it clear he’s NOT a big fan of Oleksandr Usyk, who he feels puts on a fake persona by trying to act weird. Whyte doesn’t buy Usyk’s act and sees him as a regular guy trying to freak people out with his eccentricity.

You have to wonder if Whyte might be bitter and jealous of Usyk (18-0, 13 KOs) because he’s getting a world title shot against IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua this Saturday night at the Tottenham Hotspurs Stadium in London.

The money Usyk will get for the fight will be many millions and will set him up for life.  Although Whyte did get a fight against Joshua in December 2015, it took place before AJ was a world champion.

Moreover, the money Whyte made in the fight is nowhere near the millions that Joshua’s opponents make fighting him nowadays. Look at Andy Ruiz.

The heavyset Ruiz Jr fought Joshua twice in 2019, and he now has a net worth of $10 million. Ruiz is now wealthy, but before he fought Joshua, he was struggling

Whyte says Usyk putting on an act

“I’ve seen him spar with Wladimir. I’ve been in a camp with Wladimir, and I’ve seen him in shows and stuff,” said Whyte to BBC 5 Live Sport about Usyk.

He’s a weird guy. He tries to be a bit too eccentric, and he tries to be weird and freaky and stuff. It freaks a lot of people out, but I’m just like, ‘Oh, you’re just a guy.’ He tries to come across as weird, and I’m like ‘You’re just a guy, yeah,'” said Whyte.

Dillian shouldn’t let it bother him how Usyk acts because it seems like he’s REALLY annoyed by the former undisputed cruiserweight champion for some reason. Why does Usyk bother Whyte so much?

Is it because of how Usyk acts, or is it due to envy due to him getting the world title shot against Joshua?

If Whyte plays his cards right and beats Otto Wallin on October 30th, he’ll have the chance to fight the winner of the October 9th match between WBC champion Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder.

If Whyte loses to Wallin, he can forget about ever fighting for a world title because he’ll have been weeded out.

Dillian says Joshua can easily beat Usyk

“I don’t do well with easy fights. The harder fights, I seem to do better,” said Whyte to BBC Boxing on why he always takes tough fights.

“He showed heart. In my opinion, he could have won that fight if he’d wanted to win the fight,” said Whyte about Otto Wallin’s fight against Tyson Fury in 2019.

“Joshua will stop him in the first five, six, or seven rounds,” said Whyte on his prediction for the Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk fight this Saturday.

“Usyk will start fast, and Joshua will be a bit cagey because he’s a southpaw, and he’s lighter.

“Joshua also lacks confidence sometimes in fights where he can get caught up. ‘He’s a good boxer.’ Hopefully, he goes back to his old self and starts pressing Usyk and being the bigger, stronger guy and starts backing him up and hitting him with stuff.

“I think he can get the job done early. Usyk is a good southpaw, but he’s an aggressive southpaw as well. He likes to press the fight, but Joshua has height and reach, and power.

“If Joshua wants to set the pace, he can get an early knockout. But if he wants to prove who’s the better boxer, I think he’ll struggle.

“But if he goes in confident and walks Usyk down, [he can win easily]. Listen, Chisora gave him [Usyk] problems because Chisora walked him down. Usyk is a cruiserweight,” said Whyte in stating the obvious.

Joshua could win the fight easily over Usyk if he bum-rushed him and went all out for the knockout. AJ will not do that because of what happened to him against Ruiz in their first fight.
