VIDEO: Pacquiao vs Ugas Preview & Prediction

Who will win the upcoming welterweight championship contest between living legend Manny Pacquiao and WBA champion Yordenis Ugas?

The fight will happen on August 21, 2021. Pacquiao was originally supposed to challenge the unified IBF/WBC welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. But Spence pulled out a few days ago because of a retinal tear that required surgery. The show, however, is still on. Yordenis Ugas is stepping in as a replacement opponent. Ugas himself was scheduled to appear on the undercard, but his scheduled opponent Fabian Maidana pulled out with an injury of his own.

We are now just over a week away, barring unforeseen disaster, boxing fans will get Pacquiao vs Ugas. Ironically Ugas is the WBA super champion at welterweight, so Pacquiao will be competing for the very same belt he won against Keith Thurman in July 2019 – a belt he never actually lost inside the ring. Ugas defeated Abel Ramos by 12 round split decision last September to win the minor WBA regular title. And then the WBA promoted him to super duper status after they stripped Pacquiao for inactivity.

All things considered, Ugas is a tremendous replacement opponent at this late hour. Indeed, this actually might wind up being a far more competitive match-up than we may have gotten between Spence and Pacquiao. Ugas is a talented boxer in his own right, and he possesses good skills and has shown good ring smarts inside the squared circle. And with regards to Pacquiao, a lot of questions remain. Pacquiao is coming off a long stretch of activity, as it has been over 2 years since his last fight. And Pacquiao is no spring chicken. He is 42 years old, going on 43. This may turn out to be quite the entertaining encounter.

So who will win? Yordenis Ugas or Manny Pac-Man Pacquiao?

This edition of Rummy’s Corner will attempt to answer that question while providing a quick preview of the upcoming welterweight championship contest between Yordenis Ugas and Manny Pacquiao. Please watch and enjoy the video for one man’s opinion on the match-up.
