Josh Taylor & Jose Carlos Ramirez Unify to Be First Champ with 4 Belts!

By Ken Hissner: On May 22nd at the Virgins Hotels, in Las Vegas, Nevada, WBA, and IBF Super Lightweight champion Josh “The Tartan Tornado” Taylor of the UK and WBC and WBO champion Jose “Jaguar” Carlos Ramirez of CA meet with the winner being the first boxer to hold all four titles!

There are currently seventeen divisions with several boxers holding three of the titles that the winner between WBA and WBC champ Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and WBO champ Billy Joe “Superb” Saunders winner Saturday will hold.

Also, Heavyweight Anthony “Joshua holds WBA, WBO, and IBF Heavyweight titles, Super Welterweight Jermell “Hit Man” Charlo holds WBC, WBA, and IBF belts as does Lightweight Teofimo “The Takeover” Lopez.

Taylor, 17-0 (13), is from Prestonpans, Scotland, UK, and a southpaw having won the IBF title in May of 2019 defeating Ivan “The Beast” Baranchyk, 19-0, over 12 rounds. In his next fight, he added the WBA belt in October of 2019 defeating Regis “Rougarou” Prograis, 24-0. In his next and most current fight in September 2020, he defeated Apinun Khongsong, 16-0, scoring a knockout in one.

Ramirez, 26-0 (17), is from Avenal, CA, having won the WBC title in March of 2018 defeating Amir Ahmed Imam, 21-1. After several title defenses, he added the WBO title in July of 2019 defeating Maurice Hooker, 26-0-3, in 6 rounds. In his next and most current fight in August of 2020, he defeated Viktor Postol, 31-2.

With Joshua holding three belts and Tyson “Gypsy King” Fury holding the WBC belt they are looking for a unification bout sometime in 2021. This is all good news for fight fans looking to have one champion in each division.
