Eddie Hearn has 3 or 4 proposals for Joshua and Fury to mull over this weekend for site deals

By Charles Brun: Eddie Hearn says he’s got 3 to 4 site deal proposals that he’s going to give to Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua this weekend for them to mull over for their July fight.

Interestingly, Hearn says Fury has “No other fight” options other than Joshua. What about the highly popular American Deontay Wilder?

By Hearn saying that Fury has “no other” options but Joshua, it sounds like his site offers are going to be less than what was originally thought. Why would Hearn be talking like that if the site deal proposals were good?

Tyson Fury has options

Fury has Deontay as his ace in the hole, and there’s also his WBC interim heavyweight champion Dillian Whyte, who is practically begging for a world title shot.

Hearn remains hopeful that a deal can get done and the Joshua-Fury fight to be finalized for their heavyweight undisputed championship for July in one of these countries:

  • America
  • UK
  • Singapore
  • Saudi Arabia
  • China
  • Dubai

Hearn isn’t saying which countries are offering the biggest site deal, so it remains to be seen if any of the offers will pass muster for Joshua and Fury.

The biggest worry is on the money side of things, as Hearn has been blabbering about how IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Joshua (24-1, 22 KOs) and WBC belt-holder Fury (30-0-1, 21 KO) can make potentially $100 million each. If Fury thought he would get $100M cash, he’s going to be an unhappy camper if Hearn’s proposals are ones where he only gets $40-50 million.

Fury isn’t going to want to take a huge pay cut of $50 million from the $100 million he thought he was going to get. It probably doesn’t matter to Joshua, as he just wants to get his hands on Fury to tear him apart.

What Hearn doesn’t realize is Fury has a great backup option with Deontay Wilder.

If Fury doesn’t like the 4 proposals that Hearn has for him, he can back out and make $40 million fighting Wilder and then look to see if the deal is sweetened by 2022 for a Joshua fight. Fury can likely improve his deal for the first of two Joshua fights if he faces Wilder again.

At the same time, it would give Fury the chance to get the badly-needed tune-up that he’s been harping about.

If the site deals on the table come out to Joshua and Fury making considerably less than the $100M that Hearn has talked about, it’s quite likely that one of them [Fury], might choose to say, ‘The heck with this. I’ll wait until the pandemic ends before I revisit the fight.’

You’ve got to assume that there will be loads more money to be gotten by Joshua and Fury if they wait until the pandemic is over with rather than fighting now.

Hearn to present the proposals this weekend

“Like I said, there will be around three or four offers presented to both camps this weekend and then it’s over to them and the teams to discuss which one we want to take,” said Hearn to Sky Sports about the Joshua vs. Fury site deals.

“Two fights this year. It is a summer fight. That’s everything we’re working towards and as confident as ever that this gets done.”

What’s with this weekend jazz that Hearn is talking about? The deadline is on Saturday, so Hearn is really pushing it to the edge by waiting until the very last day to spring the details on the site deal to AJ and the ‘Gypsy King.’ What does that tell you?

Waiting until the very last day to give Fury and Joshua the site deal offers looks bad and hurried. Why is Hearn waiting until Saturday to give AJ and Fury the proposals?

Is this a strategic move by Hearn by giving the two heavyweights the bad news on a Saturday, hoping they’ll be more receptive of it because it’s on the weekend? Charles Brun is suspicious.

“I know that there are some negative people out there and people that believe we can’t pull it off, but we spend a lifetime pulling things off, and I believe we will get this done, and I believe you will see this fight in the summer.

“There’s no other fight for Tyson Fury,” said Hearn.
