By Sean Jones: Ryan Garcia came out on Thursday to talk a little trash about Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis, the fighter that he had told the boxing world that he was going to fight before abandoning the fight suddenly in hopes of facing Manny Pacquiao.
That fight isn’t happening either now after Golden Boy recently said there was no possibility of Ryan (21-0, 18 KOs) and Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs) fighting.
The Golden Boy fighter King Ryan is now rumored to be facing Javier Fortuna in August. Given Ryan’s track record, I won’t be surprised if that fight fails to happen either.
Ryan, 22, is saying once again that he still believes he’ll knock out WBA lightweight champion Tank Davis (24-0, 23 KOs) in the future.
But in this case, Ryan goes one step further by saying that even Luke Campbell would beat Tank, which sounds ridiculous given his performance last month.
Tank is a two-division world champion, and he’s shown the kind of talent that has made him a star at 26. In Ryan’s case, he’s done nothing other than giving fans a lot of empty promises.
“Man, I’d still knock out [Gervonta] Davis then or in the next fight,” said Ryan Garcia on social media. “I don’t understand why you guys see Davis as someone that is unstoppable,” said Ryan.
I think I speak for everyone when I say that Ryan needs to stop talking about Tank Davis and Pacquiao.
It’s obvious now that he’s not going to fight either of them, so he would be doing boxing fans a big favor if he stayed in his lane and piped down on the subject of fighting either of those guys.
Ryan needs to talk up fights against guys at his level like Romero Duno, Luke Campbell, and Francisco Fonseca.
At this point, it isn’t easy to take Ryan seriously with anything that he says because the perception is he ducked Tank after mouthing off for months.
Ryan’s excuse in backing out of the Tank might have worked on the impressionable boxing fans, but that view has changed now with them after the Pacquiao fight proved to be a mirage.
Unfortunately for King Ryan, many fans don’t take him seriously any longer after he failed to commit to the Tank Davis fight.
Tank CAN’T beat Luke Campbell
“In my honest opinion, I don’t think Gervonta can beat Luke Campbell,” said Ryan. “There are some people that he could beat. Tank or Manny? We’ll let the people decide. But Tank got mad that I wanted to fight Manny,” said Ryan.

Ryan Garcia: Tank will knockout Lomachenko
“I don’t think Loma can beat Tank,” Ryan Garcia said. “I just talk about what I see from an outside perspective or to keep Tank off him.
“He just has an advantage in technicality, and that only goes so far. So Tank will knockout Lomachenko if they were to fight, mark my words.,” said Garcia.
So let me get this straight. Lomachenko can’t beat Tank Davis, but Luke Campbell CAN beat him? Man, it sounds like Ryan is a troll at this point, and perhaps he always was just trolling the fans without being serious.
