Gervonta Davis reacts to Ryan Garcia vs. Manny Pacquiao talk

By Chris Williams: Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis is understandably upset at hearing the news of Ryan Garcia facing Manny Pacquiao next. Tank says Ryan (21-0, 18 KOs) no longer wants the fight, and he’s moving on now.

Davis, 26, sounds like he’s hopping mad at Ryan because he had talked so much trash recently, and now he pulls the rug out from under their fight.

Ryan doesn’t want that smoke from Davis, who was looking forward to shutting him up. Ryan has been running his mouth something fierce lately, and Tank wanted to put him in his place.

Garcia, 22, led Tank Davis to believe that he was going to fight him next, but then all of a sudden he changed his mind and started hinting about a fight against Pacquiao.

Last Sunday, Ryan announced to his 8.2 million followers on Instagram that he’ll be fighting Pacquiao next rather than Davis. Some believe that Ryan is using Pacquiao as a way of avoiding getting thrashed by Tank Davis.

Davis sees Ryan’s fight with the 42-year-old Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs) as an “exhibition,” which is understandable given that it’s a match that is circus-like. Ryan will be walking the plank against Pacquiao.

Ryan has never fought in Pacquiao’s weight class at 147, and he has nowhere near the experience to be taking on a guy of this caliber.

There’s really no other way of viewing the Pacquiao vs. Ryan Garcia fight as anything other than a glorified exhibition-level match.

Even with the way Ryan has been talikng about the fight with Manny, saying that he’ll enjoy being hit by him because he’s a legend and that he’ll go easy on him and not trash-talk.

It’s like King Ryan is describing an exhibition bout that he’s going to be having with Pacquiao, and not an actual fight. Many boxing fans on social media are saying Ryan is ‘cashing-out’ with the Pacquiao fight, taking a loss for money. It doesn’t help that Ryan is saying he’s retiring at 26.

If that timeline is valid, it makes sense for Ryan to be fighting Pacquiao, Tank, or any other popular fighter as fast as possible to make all the money e can before he hits the magic 26, and departs from the sport.

Ryan is ruining his fight with Tank Davis since there won’t be any gain in him facing him after Pacquiao gets through dishing out a one-sided beat down to the Golden Boy fighter.

Tank would look ridiculous by fighting Ryan after he loses badly to Pacquiao in the first half of 2021. Whatever interest there was from fans in a Davis-Garcia fight will be all but gone after Ryan loses to Pacquiao.
