Ryan Garcia: There will be no escape for Luke Campbell on Dec.5

By Barry Holbrook: Ryan Garcia says he feels that Luke Campbell has disrespected him with his view that he’s an Instagram fighter ahead of their match on December 5th.

Ryan (20-0, 17 KOs) believes that a win over the experienced 33-year-old Campbell (20-3, 16 KOs) will position him at the top of the 135-pound division.

From that vantage point, the young 22-year-old Garcia wants to pick off the top lightweights one by one, starting with Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis.

Ryan and the 2012 Olympic gold medalist Campbell will be headlining on DAZN on December 5th at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California. The winner of the Campbell vs. Garcia fight will be crowned the new interim WBC 135-lb champion.

The Instagram sensation Garcia doesn’t think much of Campbell’s experience as a pro, pointing out that he’s lost to these three fighters:

  • Vasily Lomachenko
  • Jorge Linares
  • Yvan Mendy

With the kind of experience Campbell has, Garcia says he doesn’t want it. He wants positive experiences from success, not failures like Campbell.

“You’ll see how much I bring. I’m a true fighter, not an Instagram fighter. I feel disrespected big time as a fighter,” said King Ryan Garcia to Sky Sports.

“This will put me at the top of the lightweight division. I have to go through Campbell,” Ryan continued.

“If I catch him clean, if he gets hurt, he’s out of there. There will be no escape. It’s over, the moment he gets hurt,” Garcia said about the fate Luke will suffer.

“I’m the most underestimated lightweight in the world. They fail to give me credit,” said Garcia.

A knockout win for King Ryan over Campbell will win him the respect that he’s been looking for, and it’ll shake up a lot of boxing fans.

Even Vasily Lomachenko wasn’t able to knockout Campbell. Jorge Linares also was forced to go 12 rounds with Luke.

Campbell has his own ideas about wanting to look impressive and score a knockout win over Garcia. A win for Campbell will potentially put him in position for a title shot against IBF/WBA/WBC/WBO lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez.

Garcia targeting Teofimo, Tank, and Haney

“The four horsemen – Ryan Garcia, Teofimo Lopez, Gervonta Davis, and Devin Haney. These will be amazing fights for the future,” Garcia said.

“I want Gervonta. That’s my Lomachenko fight – the fight that people don’t think I can win.

“Then, I want to challenge Teofimo. Then Haney. In 2021, Gervonta and Teofimo are the guys I want,” said Ryan.

Surprisingly, Ryan wants to challenge WBA lightweight champion Tank Davis next to beat Campbell rather than Teofimo.

There’s more to gain for Garcia in taking on Teofimo than there would be for him to face Tank. Teofimo’s win over Lomachenko last Saturday was tremendous.
