By Eric Baldwin: WBA World super middleweight champion Tyron Zeuge (19-0-1, 11 KOs) will be making his first defense of his title against #3 WBA challenger Isaac Ekpo (31-2, 24 KOs) on March 18 at the MBS Arena in Potsdam, Brandenburg, Germany.

The 24-year-Zeuge recently won the WBA title with a 12th round knockout victory over WBA champion Giovanni De Carolis last November. The fact that Zeuge got a second chance at fighting De Carolis is a miracle, because he fought him to a 12 round draw in their first fight in July of last year.

It was a controversial draw, as Zeuge appeared to lose the fight in the minds of a lot of boxing fans, but the judges scored it a draw. The fight took place in Germany, as did the rematch. Zeuge has a lot of flaws in his game. It’s hard to see him being able to hold onto his title for very long, even if he defends his title in Germany each time.

It’s going to be difficult for him to hold onto the belt because he can’t punch and he’s going to need to win decisions each time. You can only do that so many times before someone with power takes you out. Ekpo, 34, might be the guy to do that. He’ll need to make sure that the fight doesn’t go to the scorecards if he wants to increase his chances of beating the German Zeuge because he’ll be the visiting fighter.

George Groves and Fedor Chudinov will be fighting for the WBA Super World super middleweight title. We could see the winner of that fight facing the winner of the Zeuge-Ekpo fight in the future. That would be a hard one for Zeuge to win, because Groves and Chudinov can punch. They’d be dangerous for him.

Anthony Joshua vs. Wladimir Klitschko still without USA television for their April 29 fight

Wladimir Klitschko and IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua’s fight on April 29 will be televised on Sky Box Office PPV from the Wembley Stadium in London, England. There’s going to be a huge crowd of 90,000 boxing fans that will be on hand to see that fight on April 29. However, there still isn’t a network in the U.S that have made a deal with the fighters to televise it in the U.S.

Joshua fights on Showtime Boxing in the State, whereas Wladimir has fought on HBO in the past. It’s still unclear which of the two networks – HBO or Showtime – that will wind up televising the Joshua vs. Klitschko fight.
