By Chris Williams: After spending the first half of his training camp in the Philippines training in General Santos City, former eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao is ready to start the second and final phase of his training camp in the United States.

Pacquiao arrived in the U.S on Saturday after LAX in Los Angeles. The media were there to greet the 37-year-old Pacquiao. He’s going to be starting his training at the Wildcard Gym in Los Angeles this week to get ready for his fight against Tim Bradley on April 9 on HBO pay-per-view.

Pacquiao has fought Bradley twice, and some boxing fans believe he beat the 32-year-old American both times. Bradley won the first fight, and Pacquiao the second one. However, this time Pacquiao may have some real concerns because he appears to have lost a couple of steps since his second contest with Bradley in 2014.

This isn’t the same Pacquiao that fought Bradley in 2014. Pacquiao has clearly deteriorated from the fighter that he was the last time he mixed it up with Bradley. I dare say Pacquiao is in real danger of getting beaten in this fight. We saw how Floyd Mayweather Jr. was able to dominate Pacquiao last May.

All Mayweather did was land a small handful of shots to the head of Pacquiao in the first two rounds, and that was enough to make him not want to fight hard. Bradley is obviously taking notes from that fight, and he’ll likely look to tag Pacquiao with the same kind of shot to make him think twice about wanting to trade with him. It won’t work for Pacquiao to mix it up with Bradley if he’s getting tagged with big shots while he’s on the way in.

Bradley is in a good position right now with his career. He’s coming off of two nice victories over Jessie Ortiz and Brandon Rios, both Top Rank fighters, and he’s jelling well with his new trainer Teddy Atlas. Bradley believes in himself now, and he seems to be fighting better than ever. Atlas has Bradley slugging less and thinking more in the ring. Bradley’s boxing skills make him a real threat to beating Pacquiao.

A loss for Pacquiao in this fight could ruin his hopes of winning the senate seat in the May elections in the Philippines. Pacquiao might not want to admit it, but a defeat for him right in this fight could sink his chances of winning the election. If he loses the election, then that could mean that he’ll have to continue his boxing career. After all, there won’t be any real reason for him to retire. It’s not as if he’s going to play basketball all the time. How much basketball can he play? A 40-year-old running around the court with guys half his age has got to be difficult.

I think Bradley is going to make Pacquiao look like an old man on April 9, and send him down to an embarrassing defeat. If Pacquiao fights hard and actually tries to win, then I suspect we’ll see him get planted on the canvas and knocked clean out like he was in his fight against Juan Manuel Marquez. I just hope his trainer Freddie Roach is going to give him some good advice during the fight, because he looked completely lost during the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight.
