Pacquiao Hopes to Sign Contract With Floyd Next Week

pac3222By Antonia Bufalino: Luckily for the fans, more optimism continues to slip out of the on-going Pacquiao/Mayweather negotiations. As of yesterday, Dan Raefel from ESPN tweeted to the public about the potentiality of the fight.

“Dont know if MP-FM makes but heard details 2day from some1 who knows (not Arum)exactly wassup that for 1st time makes me think legit chance.” via @danrafealespn

Considering Rafeal has never been a big believer of the fight ever happening, it is encouraging to see his position begin to change. His optimism for the fight seems to be the highest it has been, and that goes for Manny Pacquiao as well.

Pacquiao has been careful(and maybe forewarned) to not release any specific details on demands being asked. He does, however, let the media know how the talks are going. Last weekend, Pacquiao shared his optimism on how both sides are communicating in a way they’ve never had before. Freddie Roach told TheSweetScience.com how a deal for the fight is very close. Manny Pacquiao seems believe this as well. Most recently, he was asked about the negotiations, and told Inquirer.net that he and Mayweather are “almost done”.

In my last article, I entertained the possibility of Pacquiao coming to America next week to sit down with Floyd and iron out the details for each others fight. In mid-December, Chavit Singsor talked about a planned sit-down meeting between the two for January but never gave a specific date. It is now known Pacquiao will be flying to America on January 15th to what is thought to be a trip to promote his upcoming movie, Manny. That’s not the only thing he plans to do. When it comes to his trip to America, he says he will, “hopefully sign my contract for my next fight.”

It is not official whether or not the business he’ll be tending to includes sitting down with Floyd Mayweather, but if he is hopeful to sign the contract while he is in America, it could definitely be a possibility.

It appears we are finally starting to see a light at the end of this long tunnel. Let’s just hope this tunnel doesn’t collapse.
