khan67000By Scott Gilfoid: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says he’d be interested in setting up a fight between his fighter Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan in the near future if he can work out the fight.

Arum has his doubts though that a fight can be put together due to Khan’s adviser. But if it can, he’d be interested in making a fight between him and Pacquiao.

A Khan vs. Pacquiao fight is “always a possibility,” Arum said via the Telegraph.co.uk.

Khan badly wants a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr, but he’d also be interested in facing Pacquiao as well. Khan sees Pacquiao as being a tougher fight for him to prepare for than a Mayweather fight for some reason.
“I might find Manny Pacquiao a much tougher fight than a Floyd Mayweather fight because of the styles,” Khan said to the Telegraph.co.uk. “My style probably suits more a Floyd Mayweather style because it will probably take me back to my amateur days. It would be more like a game of chess.:
Khan has a fight against former two division world champion Devon Alexander this Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Khan needs to win this fight in order to stay in the running for a Mayweather fight. But even if Khan does beat Alexander, it’s no guarantee that he’ll get the Mayweather fight. Khan needs to look good against Alexander. It’s not enough to just beat him. Khan needs to shine, and obviously for him to shine he’s probably going to need to avoid putting Alexander in head-locks, shoving him and pulling down on his head all night long. In other words, Khan is going to need to keep it clean if he wants to look good and improve his chances of getting a big money fight against Mayweather. It’s not enough to win. Khan will need to win in style, and the only way he can do that is to actually fight Alexander and not foul him.

“This fight can lead us both to a huge fight in the future between me and Mayweather or Pacquiao, so, it’s all about just being focused and sticking to the game plan.”

This fight might only lead to more waiting around for Khan. Ideally, Khan needs to fight someone better than Alexander to increase his chances for a Mayweather or Pacquiao fight. Khan should fight Keith Thurman, Kell Brook and Shawn Porter rather than just Alexander.

There’s nothing wrong with Alexander, but you have to consider him as being below Thurman, Brook and Porter at this time. It’s nice that Khan is finally fighting Alexander, but it’s hardly a big enough win to guarantee a big fight against Mayweather or Pacquiao.
