For the nth time, Mayweather Jr said he wants the fight! And few believe him

floyd03By Juan dela Cruz: Just recently, in an interview at Showtime, Floyd Mayweather Jr said he wants to fight Pacquiao next and wants the fight to be on May 2. “We are ready. Let’s make it happen. May 2. Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiao. Let’s do it,” Mayweather said in the interview in San Antonio, where his promotional company was putting on a boxing card.

“I would love to fight Manny Pacquiao. We tried to make the fight happen years ago; we had problems with random blood and urine testing,” Mayweather said. “I just want to be on an even playing field. Now he’s in a very, very tight situation. He’s lost to Marquez, he’s lost to Bradley. Pay-per-view numbers are extremely low. He’s desperate. I wanted that fight a long time ago. I’m just waiting on them.”

Floyd looked silly while stating those words. Had he been able to read, he could have known that Pac already agreed to blood testing long time ago, that he had already avenge his loss to Bradley and that Marquez, as written all over the different sports newspaper and on the net, had already priced himself out. He also failed to mention that even his own ppvs in three of his four fights at Showtime had plummeted and were not able to reach 900k. He also averred that Pac wanted the fight mainly because he is desperate for money but when Pac challenged Floyd for a charity fight, to show that he is not desperate for money, the TBE (the best excuse) did not respond.

Mayweather also wanted the fight to take place on May 2, despite the fact that HBO had already set that date for the Alvarez-Cotto fight. It wouldn’t be good for boxing if two big events will collide against each other. I don’t know if Floyd doesn’t know about that fight or he just want to keep the date for him knowing Saul is capable of getting Cinco de Mayo being a Mexican himself

If Floyd really wants the fight, he should not just say it. All he has to do is call out Pacquiao, don’t make ridiculous demands, and negotiate formally. Telling he wants the fight while making actions that point to opposite direction is the same as ducking the Pacman. Floyd had been telling he wants the fight but keeps on making excuses and ridiculous demands or denying having said that when asked by reporters. With all of this, who will still believe what Floyd had been telling us? None, not even his own followers who had gotten pissed off by Floyd’s actions and inactions in avoiding the fight.

As I have been saying, Floyd doesn’t want the fight. All his actions (contrary to what he had been saying) are showing he is avoiding the fight.

Here’s what other people are saying about Floyd’s recent pronouncement:

Dan Rafael of ESPN: “So does Floyd actually believe that crap he just spouted on Showtime or what?” Dan also jokingly said in his twitter post: “No truth to rumor that 1 of Floyd’s demands in order to fight Manny is Manny has to wear a blindfold and hop on 1 leg every other round.” And lastly, Dan also made this comment: “That Floyd interview was like WWE heel promo stuff.”
Bryan Campbell, also of ESPN, had this to say: “I won’t believe anything until I hear from Al.”

One blogger has this posted on his twitter: “Won’t Floyd just offer an unreasonable $$$ split, then blame Paq/Arum for not accepting?”
Clearly, no one believes what’s coming out from Floyd’s mouth. When he says he wants the fight, he meant another.
