floyd7777 By Wilmar Patino (Boxings Finest) In what has been a long time waiting, today Steve Farhood interviewed Floyd Mayweather about the Manny Pacquiao fight. Floyd Mayweather went on to say he wants Manny Pacquiao.

“Now he’s in a very very tight situation, he lost to Marquez he lost to Bradley. Pay per view number are down extremely low so he’s desperate” Mayweather said. ” I been wanting that fight a long time ago and I’m just waiting on them. Of course we have to make the fight on Showtime Pay Per View” Steve Farhood goes on to ask him “If negotiations go well and the fight is able to be made would you want that to be your next fight?” Mayweather replied “Oh absolutely, Floyd Mayweather is not ducking or dodging any opponent.”

Mayweather then he went on to say “We want the fight we are ready, lets make it happen. Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao May 2nd lets make it happen” When asked why he wants the fight. Is it for the fans, the legacy, the money? Mayweather replied “A little bit of everything because I know that he’s not on my level, the fans want to see the fight and of course I want to go out with a bang.”

Whether the fight happens or not is still to be determined. Seems like Floyd may actually want this fight. It’s tough to tell what exactly is going on with the negotiations. If you remember about a week ago I reported that the fight may be announced as a “Christmas Gift” to boxing fans. If this is true this might be the reason for Mayweather coming out and talking about the Pacquiao fight while exuding confidence. That still remains to be seen. What we do know is that this fight needs to happen for the fans, for Mayweather’s and Pacquiao’s legacy, and for the relevancy of Boxing. Don’t want to beat a dead horse here, but are you feeling optimistic that this fight will finally come to fruition?
