Mayweather needs to move up to 160 to get better opposition

maidana2By Bradley Dee: Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26 KO’s) has matured into one of the best boxers of all time. Rarely does he lose rounds and he never loses fights. In fact, he hasn’t even come close to losing on the scorecards in a long long time. Even last Saturday, in a fight I feel he clearly lost, he won handily on 2 of the 3 scorecards. After the fight, he offered up the following “excuse”, that he wanted the fight to be that way because it was more crowd pleasing, and that he could have made it an easy fight.

Please. Don’t patronize me.

Regardless of the fact that Marcos Maidana handed Mayweather a tough fight, Mayweather said it was easy. In fact, his dad says Maidana doesn’t even deserve a rematch, in a fight a lot of people thought Maidana won.

Perfect.

Move up to middleweight. Since it’s so easy at Super Welter, the solution is the easiest solution ever. Move up in weight, fight at the next highest weight class. What’s waiting for you up there? Gennady Golovkin. Should be an easy win right? Let’s test that theory by making it happen. Mayweather Golovkin at 160. Just 6 pounds north of where Mayweather fights everyday. Does Mayweather want a challenge? There is one waiting for him at 160.

Or Mayweather can continue to reign at 154 and 147 and retire undefeated, but let’s stop with all the nonsense about how easy fights are when someone puts up a competitive effort.

There’s challenges awaiting the greatest fighter of our generation. This is the chance to once again move up in weight and conquer a new horizon. Yeah Mayweather walks around at just over 147 and even when he fights at 154 he doesn’t weigh 154, but the weight has nothing to do with it. If he’s that good, he won’t be touched.

Let me know in the comments section if FMJ should move up in weight.
