guerrero6776By Dan Ambrose: Floyd Mayweather Sr. and trainer Ruben Guerrero almost went toe-to-toe last night in a restaurant in Las Vegas, Nevada, and they both had to be pulled apart. Ruben, the father of the recently defeated Robert “The Ghost’ Guerrero, got in Mayweather Sr’s face and invited him to hit him. Mayweather Sr., who was a good fighter during his career, choose not to nail Ruben with a shot. However, the two trainers then exchanged shoves before they were broken apart.

It wouldn’t have been fair because Ruben was never a fighter and he’d be out of his element in a street fight with Mayweather Sr.

Mayweather Sr. said this via Hustleboss “I ain’t even going to hurt you,” in speaking to an agitated Ruben. “I’m going to get you later.”

Ruben then got directly in Mayweather Sr’s face and said “I’ll give you the first shot, brother. Go for it! Do it!”

Ruben looked fearless and it would have been interesting to see what would have happened. He’s not a trained fighter like Mayweather Sr. is and so it would be tough to see him try and exchange blows. Unless Ruben were able to turn it into a wrestling match, he’d likely get pounded by Mayweather Sr.

The two trainers still seem to have bad blood from the Mayweather-Guerrero fight last May. Both Ruben and Mayweather Sr. trash talked each other constantly in the run up to that bout, and there was talk of them wanting to fight each other. Nothing ever came of it, but it looks like they’re still jawing back and forth with each other.

Robert Guerrero is currently trying to get out of his contract with Golden Boy Promotions despite them setting him up with the Mayweather Jr. fight. Guerrero has no hopes of ever getting a rematch with Mayweather Jr. due to how easily he was beaten, so there’s talk that he wants to get out of the contract in order to try and get a fight against Manny Pacquiao. If he succeeds in getting the contract ruled as invalid, Guerrero has a very good chance of getting the Pacquiao fight, because Top Rank doesn’t have many interesting fighters left in their stable to match up against Pacquiao. Guerrero at least would give Pacquiao an opponent to show the difference between him and Mayweather Jr. That would be the whole idea behind Pacquiao fighting Guerrero. If Pacquiao could beat Guerrero worse than Mayweather did, then it might lure Mayweather into a fight with him. Guerrero stands no chance of actually beating Pacquiao. He would just be a fighter that would be used for comparison’s sake.
