If they’re going to be testing Maidana’s blood then Broner is going to have to push for the extra testing because this fight doesn’t have extra blood testing setup yet.

Broner and Maidana will be facing each other on December 14th at the Alamodome, in San Antonio, Texas, USA.

Broner told Fighthype this when told that Maidana is now working with Alex Ariza: “I don’t care. He gonna be taking that needle. We gonna see what’s in his blood, so we don’t care who’s in his corner.”

Broner is looking forward to facing the 30-year-old Maidana on December 14th, because he feels that he matches up well with Maidana’s come forward style of fighting. It’s a style that Broner is quite familiar with after having faced similar opponents in the lightweight division in wins over Gavin Rees and Antonio DeMarco. However, Maidana’s different than those guys in that he’s a lot heavier, much stronger, he throws more punches, and he’s used to taking much bigger shots.

Broner was able to stop DeMarco and Rees in the lightweight division, and that’s a much different story than fighting in the welterweight division against a big puncher like Maidana. Broner will need to make some adjustments to his fighting style of he wants to win this fight because throwing pots isn’t going to do much to slow Maidana down.

This could turn into a bout where Broner is forced to throw more punches if he wants to get the victory, because he might not be able to hurt Maidana with his power shots. If it comes down to Maidana out-landing Broner two to one, then we could see a big upset in this fight. Broner hasn’t established whether he even belongs in the welterweight division, as he looked poor in barely defeating Paulie Malignaggi last June.

Broner got the victory, but it was hardly what you’d call a dominating performance. It was a victory where Broner just barely scrapped by to get the win. What’s troubling is that Malignaggi was totally dominated by Amir Khan three years ago in a fight that was one-sided every area that you could imagine, yet Broner ended up really struggling to defeat Malignaggi. His power had no affect on Malignaggi, and the fight ended up being a very close one.
