By Balal Saleem & Asad Shakil: The questions surrounding this fight seem to be a matter of when, not will, for a Carl Froch knockout. Carl Froch has built a reputation through his most recent fights as a true warrior and unstoppable on home soil. If his last fight with the ‘Viking Warrior’ Mikkel Kessler is anything to go by, then a Carl Froch stoppage seems unquestionable.

A proven ability to destroy World class opposition as was seen against Lucian Bute, makes Froch the favourite for this fight and rightly so. With opponent George Groves looking less and less likely to pull off an upset because of his separation with master tactician, Adam Booth, and after loosing a Legal battle with Booth, Groves now is in the worst possible position having had to switch trainers during camp for the biggest fight in his career.

However, George Groves must not be underestimated. Throughout his career, he has displayed some spectacular boxing skills as seen against bitter rival James Degale. Speed, accuracy, power and flawless technique gives Groves all the elements of pulling off a huge upset against the big hitting Carl Froch. George Groves, with his persistent movement, angles and shot selection give him the edge over Froch who has found it difficult to perform against elusive and skilful fighters who are not willing to be drawn into a brawl. This was shown against American Andre Dirrell, when Froch found it extremely difficult to land cleanly and close down Dirrell. Froch becomes frustrated when he is unable to land on his quicker opponents often leading to him making mistakes and leaving himself open to flurries of punches which would be enough for Groves to outpoint the Champion.

I believe, although Froch would be an obvious favorite, the task in hand is not as simple as he may think. For Groves the aim should be to move and not get drawn in to a brawl and ultimately if the fight goes the distance then for me there is only one winner,  Saint George Groves.
