Deontay Wilder to De La Hoya: Make Arreola fight happen!

arreola777By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight contender Deontay Wilder (29-0, 29 KO’s) was practically pleading with Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya tonight to let him face the roundish heavyweight Chris Arreola (36-3, 31 KO’s) after watching Arreola’s sloppy work in stopping Seth Mitchell (26-2-1, 19 KO’s) on Saturday night on Showtime.

The 6’7″ Deontay sees a fighter that is made to order for him in the form Arreola, and he can’t wait to get him in the ring so that he can knock him senseless.

Here’s what De La Hoya and Deontay said tonight about a potential Arreola fight:

Deontay really wants the Arreola fight, and it’s going to be interesting to see if De La Hoya and Golden Boy can lure Arreola into the ring to fight Deontay. We don’t want Arreola to have to be pulled into the ring kicking and screaming in order to fight the talented Deontay. I’d like for Arreola to accept the challenge to face Deontay.

It might be difficult for Deontay to get Arreola in the ring, because he was asked if he would be interested in facing Wilder, and he’s not interested in that fight for some reason. I mean, I can’t blame Arreola at all if he doesn’t want to face Deontay, because Arreola just took a beating in a 12 round decision loss Bermane Stiverne in a fight last April where Arreola’s nose was shattered in 3 separate pieces.

I doubt that Arreola wants a big heavyweight with the kind of one-punch power that Deontay has hitting him on the snooze as hard as he can. It wouldn’t be fun for Arreola to have his nose broken a second time. But if Deontay breaks it, Arreola at least won’t have to worry about fighting 12 rounds with a broken nose, because Deontay would be merciful and would quickly put him out of his misery in knocking him out quickly so that Arreola doesn’t have to suffer much.
