Mayweather-Canelo shocker

It’s been a long time since we’ve had a bout more enticing and mouthwatering than this bout. Most believe that Mayweather will be victorious, and I for one am a believer. I’m not saying it’s “easy money” for Floyd, but with his god given talents, he should prevail. I don’t want to seem like a negative nancy but I foresee two problems, over which neither boxer will have any control.

Those problems being: The referee and the judges. Unless we get a real pro like an Eddie Cotton, this could be a long night for Mayweather Jr. If Canelo Alvarez  is allowed to hold, hit on breaks, rabbit punch, low blows, well, we may very well see a huge upset. The ref has got to make sure he upholds the law in the squared circle, and not allow any shenanigans that will
ruin this event for one and all. If Canelo is allowed to lay on Mayweather for 12 rounds, regardless of how talented his is, he will eventually tire, and most likely succumb to a vicious body shot, from Canelo.

The even bigger problem I foresee, is of course the judging. Week after week, ESPN analyst Teddy Atlas rants about how god awful the judges are in some of these fights. It’s like they are watching a completely different fight than the rest of us. If Mayweather or Canelo for that matter, get a victory snatched from them because of incompetent judging, this fight is big enough and important enough that the crowd may just go postal, and tear up the joint.

Atlas is correct that the judges need to be held accountable. Just what does a boxing commission do anyway? It’s obvious what they don’t do is appoint qualified, and skilled judges in my view. The biggest upset of then night may not come from inside the ring; unfortunately, it may come from 3 blind mice.
