It’s difficult to say why Canelo got the urge to let Mayweather have it because he wasn’t doing anything other than staring at him in the face off while wearing sunglasses. It’s not as if Canelo could see his eyes or anything and spot any kind of anger in his eyes.

Canelo said this as quoted by RingTV, “Let me be honest with you, I had that feeling, like when you want to fight. I wanted to exchange right there. I wanted to…it’s like Mayweather is here and I’m here. Let’s do it. That’s what I was thinking inside. There were no nerves. I was calm.”

If Canelo was so calm then why was he getting froggish at the sight of Mayweather staring at him? A calm person isn’t looking to fight when the other guy [Mayweather] is doing his job of trying to market the fight.

I hope Canelo can continue to stay calm because I’d hate to see him blow the fight out of the water by going off on Mayweather and slugging him during a simple stare down. This stuff is for the fans, not for the fighters to prove themselves right then and there on the spot by making it a bareknuckle fight.

If Canelo is going to be bothered by the stare downs then maybe Golden Boy needs to keep the fighters separated because we can’t have any potential violence going on before they even step inside the ring.

Canelo needs to be worried about how he’s going to be able to throw combinations without gassing out and needing a minute to rest each time he lets his hands go, because he’s a lot like Adrien Broner with his tendency to throw a few punches and then do next to nothing for a minute other throwing single shots.

The only way Canelo can beat Mayweather is by throwing nonstop punches for 3 minutes of every round for 12 rounds, but if Canelo fights hard for only a portion of each rounds, he’s not going to win this fight.

The Canelo that fought Austin Trout last April totally loses this fight because he wouldn’t be busy enough to get the decision.
Mayweather thinks Canelo would have lost to Trout had he not scored the knockdown in the 7th. Mayweather saw the knockdown as the difference between the two of them.
