wilder3423Deontay “Bronze Bomber” Wilder has signed with power broker Al Haymon as his personal adviser. Wilder, 28-0 with 28 knockouts in the heavyweight division was set to fight Dereck Chisora June 15th in London but legal problems related to a Las Vegas domestic assault arrest made international travel unlikely and thus scuttled the bout.

Haymon comes with impressive credentials, and currently counts Floyd Mayweather, Adrien Broner and Danny Garcia among those he counsels. The Harvard-educated Haymon made his mark in the music business before turning his attention to boxing. He has been named the “Manager of the Year” two years consecutively by Ring Magazine, though he prefers the title “Advisor.” Haymon is well positioned among the premium television networks in the United States and ofter sees his boxers receive top billing on HBO and Showtime.

Wilder is coming off a 72-second blitzing of 2-time Prizefighter Champion Audley Harrison in Sheffield. The addition of Haymon to Team Wilder should pay immediate dividends for the Alabama-based boxer.

“I’m super excited,” said Wilder. “Al is the piece of the puzzle I needed to take me to the next level. I already had a great team in place and now it’s even better. We as a team made the decision to work with Al and I can’t wait to see what’s in store as I work to becoming the Heavyweight Champion of the World!”

“This is a great move and positions Deontay well for his future,” said longtime coach and co-manager Jay Deas. “The key thing was that we all wanted Al involved. Me and Shelly Finkel are on board like we’ve always been and now with Al Haymon’s drive and energy as adviser all the pieces are in place to do great things. There’s nothing like heavyweight boxing and Deontay brings a level of excitement the division hasn’t seen in a long time.”

No word yet on when Wilder’s next bout will be but circumstances dictate that it will be in the United States.
