Peter Fury: I expect a knockout!

fury67By Daniel Mcglinchey: Peter Fury, the trainer and uncle of unbeaten heavyweight sensation Tyson Fury (20-0, 14 KO’s), earlier today in an interview with TheVisitor.co.uk made the following statements on his thoughts on the upcoming bout with Steve USS Cunningham- “I’m expecting the best Steve Cunningham ever. We’re over-prepared for him, but I see Tyson systematically handing out punishment for as long as the fight lasts, I expect a knockout.”

The Fury camp is as ever confident going into their next challenge facing the former two time World Champion. I personally rate Steve as a fighter. I think he has good ring craft. He’s fast, he has a tremendous heart and I believe his record of 25-5 does not do him justice. However, I see the fight unfolding very similar of that to the comments made by Peter Fury.

My prediction is a cagey first couple of rounds before Tyson steps it up using his jab to set up and land some damaging shots. I predict Steve will drop by the 5th or 6th round and will continually take punishment before the ref stops the bout or he gets knocked out in the mid to late rounds. I see Tyson’s size and strength being too much for Cunningham. For such a big guy at 6ft9, Fury moves around the ring very well and throw’s combinations very effectively so my prediction is a round 9 TKO.

When asked what’s in store for Tyson in the future, Peter Fury replied “We would be interested in Haye, but at the moment we’re only focusing on getting the mandatory shot to fight Wladimir.“
Haye has already stated he wants to stay well away from Tyson Fury so I can’t see that fight ever materializing. If Fury comes out victorious his options are to take on undefeated Bulgarian Kubrat Pulev to go down the IBF route, or take on the winner of the April 27th WBC title eliminator Chris Arreola vs. Bermane Stiverne or he may even get a call up from the Champion himself.
