Deontay Wilder isn’t even rated in the top 100 heavyweights

wilder54By Dominic Sauboorah: Heavyweight prospect Deontay Wilder has won all of his fights by way of knockout and has yet to go past the 4th round in any of his fights. Impressive? Far from that.

Wilder has fought nothing but low tier opposition since turning professional and the guy’s not getting any younger. Golden Boy are hyping him up to be the next great thing, a bit ironic considering that they’re still yet to step him up.

His next fight is against unknown quantity Matt Greer. I mean this is just getting embarrassing now. The guy he’s fighting has lost 8 of his 23 fights. That’s just out and out pathetic. The fact that he’s calling out David Price and Tyson Fury, who are genuine contenders, is ridiculous. There were even rumors that Klitschko knocked him down numerous times in sparring.

Thank god though that the sanctioning bodies realize Wilder’s record has been massaged as he isn’t even ranked in the top 100 heavyweights in the world. His career has become somewhat of a freak show. He’s had a fair few more fights than Fury yet Fury is on the cusp of a world title, whilst Wilder is still fighting bum after bum. The guy is vastly turning into a joke and in all honesty he isn’t great to watch and appears to only rely on his booming right hand.

I’d like to see Wilder step up and face a legit contender because if he thinks he can just hit fighters with ease then he really shouldn’t be involved in this business. If he continues with the mentality that “oh I’m just going to let me right hand knock everyone out” sooner or later he’s going to find himself knocked out. Once he beats a top 20/30 heavyweight then I will speak about Deontay Wilder in a more positive light.
