The Peterson vs. Judah fight will likely take place in December. According to RingTV, they have 90 days to make the fight happen, which would take it into January at the latest.

What this means is that the Peterson-Judah fight will be taking place in Washington, DC, the home city of the 28-year-old Peterson, who hasn’t fought since defeating former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan last December in Washington, DC. That was the fight where Khan shoved Peterson constantly, and pulled down on his head almost as often when Peterson would try to work on the inside.

After the fight, Khan brought a number of complaints about why he felt that his loss should be overturned, blaming it on judges’ scorecards mishandled and a mystery man that was seen sitting at the judges’ table. None of them stuck unfortunately Khan. But what did hurt Peterson well after the fight was when he tested positive for synthetic testosterone while getting ready for a Khan rematch.

As it turns out, Peterson had been under a medical doctors care to be treated for a testosterone deficiency problem. Peterson hadn’t checked it out with the IBF and WBA ahead of time. All of this immediately caused the cancellation of the Khan-Peterson rematch and led to the WBA to strip Peterson of his title. He still has the IBF title, however.

Judah, 34, defeated Vernon Paris by a 9th round TKO last March in an IBF light welterweight title eliminator bout to earn the shot to face Peterson. Judah has won six out of his last seven fights. He was beaten by Amir Khan last year in a 5th round TKO loss. A the time, Judah was the IBF light welterweight champion.

This was the fight where Khan used his left arm to hold Judah’s head down while hitting him with a right hand on the belt line to get the knockout. The referee didn’t see the illegal move and ruled it as a knockout. It’s unclear why the International Boxing Federation didn’t overturn the loss. Perhaps because how badly dominated Judah was in that fight by Khan. It was pretty one-sided from start to the bitter finish.
