By Chris Williams: A unification bout between WBA Super World flyweight champion Hernan Marquez (34-2, 25 KO’s) and WBO flyweight champion Brian Viloria (31-3, 18 KO’s) will be taking place on November 17th at the Sports Arena, in Los Angeles, California, USA. A crowd of between 6000 to 7000 is expected to show up for this interesting showdown between two of the best fighters in the flyweight division.

Viloria said to Philboxing.com “This is a career defining type fight. This is the type of fight that everybody would want to have a won on their record and that is what I’m planning.”

Viloria, 31, has picked a very dangerous fighter in 24-year-old Marquez, who hasn’t lost a since he was stopped by a much bigger and much older Nonito Donaire two years ago in 2010. Marquez was a long younger then, only 22, and not nearly as good as he is now. However, the size difference between him and Donaire was huge and he lost that fight on the size alone. Since then, Marquez has won his last seven fights, beating the likes of Luis Concepcion [twice], Edrin Dapudong, Richie Mepranum and Fernando Lumacad.

Viloria has a five fight winning streak, and also hasn’t lost a fight in the last two years. He’s beaten the following fighters during that time: Omar Soto, Liempetch Sor Veerapol, Julio Cesar Miranda, Giovani Segura and Omar Nino Romero. Viloria has looked great in all of those fights and is fighting on a really high level fight now.

Marquez can win this fight if he’s able to use his power early on Viloria. However. I don’t like Marquez’s chances if Viloria is able to survive into the second half of the fight when Marquez’s power tends to fade. Marquez has got to try and jump Viloria early try to turn the fight into one resembling his bouts against Concepcion, because Marquez does well when he doesn’t have to think much and just throws power shots. He can beat Marquez in a fight like this, but not likely by a long 12 round fight where Viloria’s boxing skills will take over.
