Image: Froch: Mack has only lost against the best; he was beating CloudBy Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch (29-2, 21 KO’s) and his promoter Eddie Hearn are busy trying to build up their over-matched opponent Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 KO’s) so that boxing fans don’t see this as a ridiculous mismatch and decide not to show up on November 17th to watch the fight at the Capital FM Arena, in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom.

Froch said to Sky Sports News “He’s only lost against the best. For the first five or six rounds [Against Tavoris Cloud], he [Mack] was winning that fight He was winning every round and then he got caught by a big shot.”

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Froch slather on the compliments on an opponent before like he’s doing with the 32-year-old Mack. Froch is really pouring on the love for Mack and that has be suspicious as heck. Why is Froch suddenly kissing up to Mack so badly? I think it’s painfully obvious.

Everyone sees this fight as a sick mismatch and they’re almost bored with the fight, so now Froch and Eddie are smothering Mack with the compliments 24/7, trying to change public perception of the American fighter, as if just by saying good things about him fans will turn their opinions around for this fight. If fans aren’t interesting in this fight then Froch and Eddie only have themselves to blame.

They didn’t have to agree to fight Mack. They could picked a quality super middleweight like Andre Dirrell, Anthony Dirrell or Thomas Oosthuizen to fight. Of course, those guys are incredibly dangerous and the chances would be too high that Froch would lose to all of them and then miss out on his nice payday rematch against former IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute next March in Montreal, Canada.

I never thought that Froch would take a soft fight, because he’s been crowing all these years about how he takes on nothing but good opponents every time out. But what happened this time? They picked an easy one with Mack and are trying to whitewash their pick by saying how damn good he is.

If he’s so good then why didn’t he beat Glen Johnson? I don’t like the idea of Froch fighting guys that were beaten by fighters that he previously beat. Froch defeated Johnson in the Super Six tournament last year in June. Heck, I’d rather see Johnson brought in to fight Froch then having the guy that Johnson beat fight him. I think I’m starting to lose respect for Froch. He’s starting to become like other fighters now with the soft title-milking fights.
