Abregu found a home for his powerful right hands early and was able to knock Dulorme down in the 3rd round. From there the fight, which was being dominated previous to that by Dulorme, was much different with Abregu putting the pressure on the experienced 22-year-old. In the 7th, Abegu hurt Dulorme with a series of punches and then knocked him down with a hard combination. Although Dulorme beat the count corner wisely threw in the towel.

In hindsight it might have been a little too early to put Dulorme in with a veteran like Abregu, especially given all the soft record-padding opposition that had been fed to Dulorme before this fight.

Unbeaten light welterweight contender Karim Mayfield (17-0-1, 10 KO’s) defeated Mauricio Herrera (18-3, 7 KO’s) in a workmanlike 10 round unanimous decision. Final judges’ scores were 96-94, 98-92 and 97-93.

IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez (32-3, 13 KO’s) defeated #1 IBF Marvin Quintero (25-4, 21 KO’s) by a 12 round split decision. The final judges’ scores were 116-112, 118-110 for Vazquez, and 115-113. Vazquez looked like the better fight, so it’s hard to understand what the judge who scored it for Quintero was looking at.

Vazquez will now likely defend his title against unbeaten lightweight contender Mercito Gesta next.
