Image: Bute vs. Grachev on Saturday in MontrealBy Scott Gilfoid: The moments is almost upon is with the talented former IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (30-1, 24 KO’s) will be returning to action on Saturday night against big puncher Denis Grachev (12-0, 8 KO’s( at the Bell Centre, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Bute, 32, will be back at home for this fight after agreeing for some reason to travel all the way to the UK to fight challenger Carl Froch last May. It was a crazy, crazy thing for Bute to do because it might have cost him the fight against Froch because Bute wasn’t comfortable without his huge home fan base to cheer him on for that fight.

Bute is one of those guys that fights at a much higher level when he can hear his loyal fans cheering him and giving him support 24/7/. He didn’t have that fight the Froch fight, and I think it had a lot to do with Bute losing that fight. However, Bute will be back at home on Saturday night against the monstrous punching Grachev, and there’s no reason on earth for Bute to ever fight outside of Montreal again, because if Bute gets past Grachev, he’ll be fighting Froch in a rematch in Montreal in February or March of next year.

Bute beats Grachev and then beats Froch, and then anyone else that wants a fight with him they can come to Canada to fight him or not at all. There’s no one that draws enough fans for Bute to want to waste time leaving Canada again. He routinely brings in over 10,000 fans for his fights in Montreal, so there’s no real reason for Bute to leave Montreal. The money is too good for him to waste time leaving.

Grachev is a dangerous fighter because of his huge power, and he could make it tough for Bute if he’s unable to get out of the way of Grachev’s big shots. Ismayl Sillakh found out the hard way how hard it is to escape Grachev’s pressure last April when Sillakh was knocked out in the 8th round.
