Image: Audley very impressed with Deontay Wilder's power in sparring sessionsBy Scott Gilfoid: Audley Harrison (28-5, 21 KO’s) was very impressed and thankful for the excellent four weeks of sparring that unbeaten heavyweight talent Deontay Wilder gave him recently while helping the 40-year-old Harrison get ready for his October 13th challenge against the big 6’8″ British heavyweight champion David Price (13-0, 11 KO’s) at the Echo Arena, in Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom.

Harrison said to Sky Sports News “This has been a real competitive camp. I’ve found people that can match David Price and possibly beat David Price. Deontay Wilder. He’s 26-0 with 26 knockouts [actually it’s 25-0, 25 KO’s]. He has a bronze medal at Beijing [2008 Olympics], same as David. That’s the best sparring I can get for David Price. The same height. They’re all 6’4″ to 6’8”, and Deontay Wilder punches like a mule, and he’s fast. And I had four weeks of him, and some days he was catching me with clean shots. I know I’m going to be able to take [Price’s shots]. They think when David lands his right hand on me it’s over, and that’s definitely not going to be the case. Even in the David Haye fight, as bad as I was, David Haye hit me with about 20 shots before I went down. But I still got up. This fight I’m confident I’m going to beat David Price. I’m going to walk through him as tough as he is, as great a prospect as he is. In the amateur ranks he’s been found wanting a couple of times. He never quit in those fights. He still tried to fight though.”

So true. So True! Wilder does have the talent to beat Price, and if they ever do mix it up, I can see Wilder poleaxing Price with a peach of a right hand that will leave Price face down on the canvas. Wilder’s right hand, size, speed and athleticism is too much for a slow, stiff and upright Euro heavyweight like Price. Once Wilder started bouncing right hands off of Price’s chin, the fight would be over quick. If you thought Roberto Cammarelle’s destruction of Price was fast just wait until Wilder gets his hands on him.

I give Harrison a decent chance of beating Price in this fight. Wilder really helped Harrison a great deal by showing huge power and speed that a fighter like Price could only dream of having. Harrison will be able in with the slower, stiffer and less powerful Price and not only survive but also do well in this fight. I can see Harrison knocking Price out cold if he lets his hands go the way that Wilder has been showing him in sparring.
