Tyson Fury still showing zero interest in fighting Deontay Wilder

Image: Tyson Fury still showing zero interest in fighting Deontay WilderBy Scott Gilfoid: I find it interesting to see heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (19-0, 14 KO’s) calling out David Haye on twitter, yet Fury won’t even step in the ring with Deontay Wilder. Fury feels that Haye should give him a fight so that he can prove to Haye that he’s the better fighter. Heck, why should Haye do that when Fury won’t even fight American talent Wilder or fellow Brit David Price?

Here’s what Wilder said to UKfighthype.com “He’s [Fury] a coward. He won’t fight anyone he knows he has a high chance of losing against.”

Wilder went on to use Fury’s reluctance to fight Price as an example of Fury’s lack of courage in facing tough opposition.

So why won’t Fury fight Wilder in order to prove that he deserve a shot against Haye? That seems to me to be the logical step that Fury should take if he wants to fight a bigger name like Haye. If Fury could prove that he can beat the 6’7″ Wilder, then I think Haye would take notice of him and maybe give him the fight that he so badly craves. But I don’t think Fury wants anything to do with the power punching Wilder. The American talent hits too hard, is too athletic and is too much of a risk for Fury.

Wilder has the kind of power to where he can look average for a portion of a round but then suddenly explode with a monstrous right that ends the show. Wilder has that kind of power and he’s flat out devastating. If you threw the skinny, 6’9″ Tyson Fury in the ring with Wilder it would likely end badly for Fury in one or two rounds. Wilder would be all over him and I can’t see Fury lasting long. If Fury is being knocked out and stunned by weaker punching competition, what do you think will happen once Wilder starts landing his right hands on his big lantern jaw? It would be over quickly, believe me.

I just don’t understand why Fury won’t fight Wilder? It isn’t like Fury has a fight lined up already. Look at the guys he’s been facing lately: Martin Rogan, Vinny Maddalone, Nicolai Firtha. If those are the guys that Fury has been fighting then what’s excuse for not fighting Wilder? Wilder isn’t ranked in the top 15, so why isn’t Fury fighting him?
