He sees Chavez Jr’s style as being perfect for him to land his punishing shots against.

Martinez told RingTV “Being that he is so young and so strong, it’s going to be like a razor and a double-edged sword. It will be motivation for myself. Always, he has problems with his weight.”

Martinez figures that his speed, power and mobility will be the keys to victory over the 26-year-old Chavez Jr.

What might be the telling factor in this fight between them is Martinez’s conditioning. He appears to be working out a lot harder than Chavez Jr. is, and you have to figure that if the fight goes past the 10th round mark, it would have to favor Martinez due to his superb conditioning.

Chavez Jr’s trainer Freddie Roach says that Chavez Jr. has missed six training days during their camp. although he says he’s not displeased because Chavez Jr. has done the work to get in excellent shape for the fight. Whether that’s in fact true or not is the big question.

Chavez Jr. revealed that he had to drop 15 pounds in two hours before his fight against Marco Antonio Rubio last year, and I wonder how that’s even possible. I’ve never heard of a fighter dropping that kind of weight in only two hours. That seems impossible. That might explain why Chavez Jr. wasn’t able to crush Rubio like he did in his most recent fight against Andy Lee.
