Image: Bellew to find out the hard way about Miranda's power on Saturday nightBy Scott Gilfoid: A pair of 2nd tier light heavyweights will be going at it this Saturday night with knockout artist Edison Miranda (35-7, 30 KO’s) traveling to the UK to take on Tony Bellew (17-1, 11 KO’s) in a 12 round fight at the Alexandra Palace, Muswell Hill, London, United Kingdom.

There are no obscure trinket titles on the line for this fight which is nice, because it’s so tiresome to see strange titles thrown in for fights just for the heck of it as if to validate the fight.

This fight doesn’t need it. Miranda and Bellew are both at a crossroads where the loser of the fight will continue to fall backwards into the 2nd tier, while the winner could possibly claw his way to a bottom 15 ranking if they’re lucky.

Bellew, 29, already has his chance against the WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly last year and he failed when he ran out of gas in the last four rounds. Bellew was good for eight rounds, and then fighting on fumes in the last four.

Bellew said to Boxrec.com “There is a blueprint to beat him. I have seen that. I have seen him beaten, seen him stopped and seen him beaten up. There is no blueprint to beat me, so he has to find one.”

There’s not a blueprint to beat Bellew? Sure there is. Cleverly created the blueprint when he simply outworked Bellew last October and exposed him as an eight round fighter. The blueprint is definitely there. You work Bellew hard, hit him hard, and he’ll fade late in the championship rounds. And Ovil McKenzie exposed Bellew’s chin by showing how fragile it is by knocking him down twice and turning him into a boxer. I imagine Miranda will do the same thing with Bellew, but he’ll do it a lot quicker than McKenzie did.

Miranda has the power and the experience advantage in this fight and that should be enough for him to knock Bellew out cold and keep the judges from having a part in this fight.
