McKenna (McJack): Heavyweight contender Manuel Charr (21-0, 11 KO’s), who faces WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (44-2, 40 KO’s) on Saturday night really believes he will be victorious when they clash at the Olympiyskiy Arena in Moscow. The unbeaten Charr is currently ranked at #7 in the WBC standings.

While every contender for the heavyweight title verbally expresses confidence, Manuel seems to be genuine in his conviction that he will emerge victorious in what will be the biggest fight of his life against “Dr. Ironfist”. Charr has worked in the past with Klitschko’s coach Fritz Sdunek and for that reason believes he knows the tactics the huge Ukrainian will employ against him on Saturday night.

Charr has elected to use the Rusian Valery Bolev in his preparation for the big fight and believes he is ready for anything Vitali will bring to the table in their match. While not being specific “Diamond Boy” maintains that the tactics he will use against the elder Klitschko will bring him the WBC heavyweight title belt.

Vitali for his part claims that he is in great form and has no lasting effects from the shoulder injury which hampered him from the 3rd round on in his match against Derek Chisora (15-4, 9 KO’s) last February. Klitschko while winning the fight against Chisora decisively, at times struggled and appeared to be gassed in the final stages of the fight. Many boxing pundits have in fact pointed to Klitschko’s match with Chisora as evidence that he is showing signs of slowing down. They further maintain that Vitali is ripe for the picking and that Charr has a reasonably good chance to dethrone the WBC champion.

Charr, has youth, ruggedness, strength and determination on his side and undoubtedly will attempt to exploit what he and his coach perceive to be Klitschko’s weaknesses. If those who are convinced that “Dr. Ironfist” is not the fighter he was a few years ago are correct, there may very well be a new WBC heavyweight title holder, come Saturday night.

Vitali on the other hand insists that he still feels like a 25 year old and attributes his longevity to his lifestyle of not abusing drugs or alcohol and does not smoke. Klitschko will be more determined than ever to put on a sterling performance before his many boxing fans in Moscow. More than likely he will not disappoint them.
