Image: Will Cammarelle have to KO Joshua to ensure he gets the win on Sunday?By Scott Gilfoid: Reigning 2008 Olympic super heavyweight champion from Italy Roberto Cammarelle goes into this Sunday’s 2012 gold medal fight against British home fighter Anthony Joshua in London, England. We’ve already seen Joshua win two controversial decisions in his three bouts, although I personally consider all three of Joshua’s wins as being controversial.

With the crowd likely to be completely behind him tomorrow night and the the venue being a home fight for him, Joshua could be in a good position win tomorrow unless Cammarelle really puts a hammering on the Brit and possibly knocks him out.

I’d hate to see another controversial fight because it will mar the victory for whoever wins it, but I have a feeling that Cammarelle might have to really smack Joshua around to ensure he gets the win. I’m talking it may take a real beating for Cammarelle. I’m not saying that there’s cheating going on, but rather the crowd being as loud as they are, and cheering for every punch that Joshua throws, I see the judges being influenced by all that screaming going on. It takes a special kind of person to be able to shut out that kind of noise. I mean, I can do it, but I’m good at focusing on what’s actually going on in the ring and not listening to the home crowd for cues to what’s going on.

If I’m Cammarelle, I’d be taking a good look at Joshua’s three fights against Cuban Erislandy Savon, Zhilei Zhang of China, and Kazahkstan’s Ivan Dycko, and put my game into overdrive against Joshua. Cammarelle is going to have to really pound Joshua if he wants to walk out of the ring with the Gold medal tomorrow. If he lets Joshua throw his jabs from time to time, it probably will be enough for Joshua to be given the decision.

As far as power punches go, Joshua typically connects with a small handful of power shots in every round, but gets hit a ton in return, and yet he’s been winning each time. I don’t understand it because I’ve had him getting beaten in each fight and in some cases by a sizable margin.
