Image: Pacquiao’s next opponent is soon to be revealedBy Mark Havey: The topic has been intensely debated and the boxing world has been anxiously waiting on the news of Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent. The pound for pound superstar has been in no hurry to quench the thirst of his fans. In fact he has remained very silent. Updates have come from his promoter and manager, but never the man himself. I just hope the wait will be worth it.

The questioned started out, who would Pacquiao fight next? But now the date has also come into question. Bob Arum has said that it will be November 10th. But Michael Koncz, Pacman’s advisor has said it could be December 1st. The delay in naming the opponent and indecisiveness on the date is suspicious. I think it points to a conflict in team Pacquiao, maybe a conflict of interests.

However the wait is nearly over. “Everything will be decided by the weekend. I have had meetings with everyone and by Monday afternoon we will announce the place, the opponent, and the date,” Arum told Eight Count News. “Don’t go overboard on this statement that the fight has to be on December 1”. Arum has also shed light on the date issue, saying they relate to Pacquiao filing his candidacy to become governor of Sarangani province. He says that Pacquiao can send a representative to file the papers for him.
