Image: Chad Dawson vs. Andre Ward: Two overrated boring boxers; this is going to be a snooze festBy Marcus Stewart: Undefeated WBA/WBC super middleweight champion Andre Ward will be taking on WBC light heavyweight champion Chad Dawson at the Oracle Arena in California on September 8th. This fight has been hyped up by HBO analyst and commentator Max Kellerman as “one of the biggest fights this year between two in their prime fighters.”

Any ounce of respect that I had for Kellerman I’ve lost after he made such a stupid remark. Chad Dawson, the man that only just managed to scrape past a faded Bernard Hopkins and Andre Ward, who had to rely on holding and hitting against the tougher and generally more skilled Carl Froch.

Chad Dawson is claimed to be a big puncher, yet he couldn’t even knock Bernard Hopkins to the canvas and Hopkins was way past his prime. His basic style and predictable punching patterns make him a bore to watch and most of the time I’d rather be at home sleeping comfortably in my bed rather than watching this overrated “talent” fighting. He has beaten no one credible to be seen as the #9 pound for pound champion. “Bad” Chad Dawson is a very “bad” fighter indeed.

Andre Ward. Wow. So much hype for such a boring fighter that can’t even fight properly. Most of the time he uses his head like a maniac rather than using his fists, which is what most sane boxers tend to do in the ring. His decision against Mikkel Kessler in 2009 was a joke and I even had Kessler winning the fight, due to his aggressive style and determination, unlike Ward who just hit and ran like a chicken all night. How he’s the unified super middleweight champion still baffles me.

This fight will be a huge let down for fight fans all around the world, because at the end of the day these two fighters are extremely overrated and that will be exposed on September 8th when people realize that neither of them can punch and neither of them can really box properly either without grabbing or holding like cowards.
