Image: Audley Harrison: I’m back in love with boxingBy Mark Havey: Audley Harrison (28-5-0, KO’s 21) has a mountain of a task when he faces the huge and hard hitting heavyweight from Liverpool, David Price (13-0, KO’s 11). Harrison looked calm and unperturbed when the two posed for pictures together. But I remember the same when he was preparing for Haye.

Audley Harrison is indisputably a brave man. David Price has been stopping good fighters with bone crunching power. He has made durable chins react like glass. People like Tyson Fury haven’t seemed keen on facing him and I don’t blame them. But Harrison jumped at the challenge. But that is not enough to make me forget his constant failure to deliver to his fans anything he has promised.

Harrison told the Daily mail “I’m back in love with boxing for the first time in 10 years”. Maybe so, but the man has to put on an amazing show to change the way people view him. he doesn’t have to win. He just has to fight with courage instead of going down at the first chance he gets. The quote is encouraging but I have heard it all before. I seem to remember “Can I beat David Haye? Yes I can” delivered with a confident smile, and of course mimicking President Obama’s mantra.

I wish Audley Harrison the best. And I hope I’m wrong, which is very possible because when Harrison turns up, he does so brilliantly. But it has been a long time since I saw that Audley Harrison.
