Stevenson, 34, and George were supposed to have foght on August 17th, but Stevenson injured his left hand while sparring to get ready for the fight resulting in the fight being postponed.

The winner of the Stevenson-George fight will become the mandatory challenger to IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch. I doubt Froch is having any sleepless nights about the prospects of fighting one of those guys because they’re both flawed to the extreme and Froch could easily put together a game plan that will get him past one of them.

The Stevenson-George winner won’t get a fight with Froch anytime soon, because he’s currently booked up with a scheduled fight against Yusaf Mack on November 17th in Nottingham, England, followed by a rematch against Lucian Bute in March of next year and then a rematch against Mikkel Kessler. If the Stevenson-George winner is lucky, they could get a fight against Froch late in 2013, but there’s also a good chance that Froch may opt to fight somebody else rather than Stevenson or George.

George, 27, chose to fight Dionisio Miranda on August 17th on ESPN in place of the Stevenson fight. It was a decent performance from George but nothing really great. He started way too slowly and needed to turn up the heat in the 6th round to finally get a stoppage victory.
