What’s known is who the 34-year-old Stevenson will be facing in that bout. He was supposed to be fighting #11 IBF Don George (22-2-1, 19 KOs) this Friday night on Friday Night Fights on ESPN2. When Stevenson dropped out of the fight, George’s management looked for and found replacement opponent Dionisio Miranda (21-7-2, 18 KO’s). It would be disappointing if George can’t fight in the eliminator bout because of Stevenson’s injury.

It seems if anyone is going to be eliminate from this bout it should be Stevenson because he’s the one that was injured and couldn’t make the fight. But then again this is boxing and Stevenson has a lot of boxing fans excited about him because of his power and speed. Hopefully he doesn’t get injured again while training for his October fight against whoever.

At this point the IBF will have to look for fighters ranked even lower than George, because the most of the top 10 contenders have already said no to fighting Stevenson. It’s going to get really bad if they have to pull a non-top 15 ranked fighter to fight Stevenson because none of the other contenders are interested or available to fight him. It would make the eliminator bout a joke in that case. The IBF might as well just make Stevenson the mandatory and not waste time with the formality of an IBF eliminator bout.
