By Scott Gilfoid: In a nice little mismatch tomorrow night in Berne, Switzerland, IBF/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (57-3, 50 KO’s) will be taking on an old opponent of his Tony Thompson (36-2, 24 KO’s). Did I say old? Thompson 40, and slow as heck.

During Friday’s weigh-in today, Wladimir weighed in at a career high for him at 249.1 pounds. Thompson weighed 244.7 lbs, which is 11 pounds lighter than his last fight against Maurice Harris in May of last year, and the lightest weight that Thompson has come in the last five years. He’s obviously taken this fight very, very seriously. What’s interesting about the weigh-in is that Thompson appeared to flip off the crowd as he was finishing his stare down with Wladimir after having weighed in. Wladimir stood there shaking his head as if he was trying to figure out why Thompson did that.

It looks like Wladimir wanted to come in heavier to try and make sure he’s not the lighter guy in there. It probably doesn’t matter what weight Wladimir came for this fight, because it’s a mismatch. Thompson hasn’t fought in a year, and he looked awful in his last fight against Harris. Thompson hasn’t fought a quality heavyweight since losing to Wladimir four years ago. So what does that tell you? This is a typical Klitschko mismatch, and it’s just too bad he didn’t dump the strap so that he didn’t have to take this fight.

Wladimir will destroy Thompson no problem in this fight. Thompson’s too old, too slow and too limited to win this one.

The undercard, if you want to call it that, is stacked with unrecognizable fighters. I don’t know why they even bothered.

Here’s the undercard fights:

Aniya Seki vs. Eva Marcu
Nuri Seferi vs. Giulian Ilie
Tony Harrison vs. Flavio Turelli
Istvan Szili vs. Daniel Urbanski
Ergun Mersin vs. Ivo Andelic
