Mayweather would like to get the best possible money fight available, and would no doubt love to finally face the Filipino fighter Manny Pacquiao. However, that’s not feasible because Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum has already ruled out a fight between his cash cow fighter Pacquiao and Mayweather. Arum wants to match Pacquiao up against Juan Manuel Marquez or Tim Bradley in rematches that would be in house Top Rank fights. Mayweather isn’t in the picture unfortunately.

Mayweather’s choices for his next bout are from this list:

Saul Alvarez
Miguel Cotto
Amir Khan
Robert Guerrero
Sergio Martinez
Tim Bradley

It’s likely to be one of those guys that gets the fight unless Mayweather picks a long shot opponent, someone that virtually has no chance of winning and probably doesn’t belong in the ring with him in the first place. In that case I have a second list of guys that could fall into the fight.

Marcos Maidana
Josesito Lopez
Devon Alexander
Andre Berto

I wouldn’t mind seeing Mayweather fight any of those guys, but those are fighters that wouldn’t bring a whole lot to the table in terms of a big fan base. Of course, neither would guys like Guerrero, Bradley and Sergio Martinez.

Khan would have been perfect had he not been knocked out by WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia earlier this month. That knockout loss for Khan took him backwards several fights and he’s going to need some time to work his way back to being in range of a Mayweather fight. Khan needs some big wins in a real hurry if he wants to get a bout with Mayweather next year.

Bradley would be perfect for Mayweather but for the fact that Bradley is promoted by Top Rank. That right there will likely get in the way of Mayweather fighting him.
