Image: Guerrero: I have the style that will end Mayweather's unbeaten recordBy Dan Ambrose: WBC interim welterweight champion Robert Guerrero (30-1-1, 18 KO’s) sees himself as having the correct ingredients to take down unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr., if only he would listen to Guerrero’s constant challenges and fight him.

Guerrero said Right now, I got Pretty Boy on my radar. I know I have the style that could end his unbeaten record and give him his first loss. I’ve been campaigning to get the fight and now I’ve earned it.”

Guerrero seems terribly desperate for a fight against Mayweather. He’s been pining away all this time hoping to get that shot when he was fighting at lightweight, and now that he beat Selcuk Aydin, a fighter with an inflated ranking and record, Guerrero feels that he should get the fight with Mayweather. It’s too laughable really because Guerrero hasn’t earned anything. He beat a guy that a lot of the top welterweights would have beaten, but he struggled in beating him.

It wasn’t a fight that would indicate that Guerrero deserves to get a bigger fight against Mayweather. Guerrero vs. Mayweather would likely do poorly in PPV. Mayweather is popular enough to draw a lot of fans, but Guerrero isn’t and that would mean that the fight would be lucky if it even reached 800,000 buys. Mayweather needs an opponent with a name and with some talent for him to want to waist time fighting.

Guerrero is trying too hard for the Mayweather fight. He needs to stop seeming so desperate and back off and let Mayweather have his space. He’s smothering the guy with all of his Mayweather talk. If Mayweather wanted that fight, believe me he’d go after it without Guerrero lifting a finger. But Guerrero hasn’t done enough for that to happen. If Guerrero wants a fight against Mayweather, he’s got to knock off some of the talented contenders in the division like Kell Brook, Thomas Dulorme, Josesito Lopez, Victor Ortiz, and Andre Berto. I doubt Guerrero will fight of those guys.
