Image: Rafael picks Bradley to beat PacquiaoBy Dan Ambrose: Dan Rafael from ESPN is picking Tim Bradley to defeat WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao tonight in their HBO televised pay-per-view bout. Rafael is one of the few members of the media who are picking the 28-year-old Bradley to pull off a huge upset tonight.

Rafael is picking Bradley because he feels that he’s the younger, hungrier fighter with a lot of ambition. He feels that Pacquiao has been to the table too many times and doesn’t have the same drive as Bradley at this point.

More importantly, Rafael doesn’t see Bradley as an old past his best fighter like a lot of the guys that Pacquiao has been making a name off of in the past three years. He also doesn’t see Bradley as being weight drained like past Pacquiao opponents Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito, Oscar De La Hoya, and perhaps Ricky Hatton. Bradley is moving up in weight tonight, so he’s not going to be sacrificing weight in order to take on Pacquiao.

Rafael believes that Pacquiao sees this bout as “Just another fight” for him and doesn’t have the same urgency that Bradley has. Bradley badly wants a win because if he can beat Pacquiao just once, he’ll be set for life because in the rematch in November, Bradley will get a much bigger payday than this time around.

The rematch will also no doubt bring in bigger PPV numbers because boxing fans will be interested to see if Bradley can beat Pacquiao a second time and put him out of his misery.
