Image: Will Bute's skill prevail against the Cobra?By Dean Morgan: This Saturday Lucian Bute (30-0,24 KOs) faces the toughest test of his career when he faces Carl Froch (28-2,20 KOs) at the Capital Fm arena, Nottingham, England.

Bute, 32, is considered by many to be the best super-middleweight on the planet, even though he is ranked #2 by Ring magazine behind WBA and WBC champion Andre Ward. This is a massive step up in class for Bute as he has never faced an opponent on Carl Froch’s level. Bute put on a good performance against an old Glen Johnson last year but that’s probably the highlight of his career. His other two biggest wins were against Edison Miranda and Librado Andrade.

On the other hand you have Carl Froch, who made it to the final of the super six and has faced every big name in the super-middleweight division in the last three years losing only to Kessler and Ward. Froch has some big wins under his belt against Abraham, Dirrel, Taylor and Pascal. Froch will be looking to become a three-time world champion when he tries to add the IBF version of the title to his resume.

The fight which is billed as “No easy way out” has all the ingredients to be a classic. Froch’s fights are usually explosive and with 10,000 plus fans roaring Froch on it will make it very special for the cobra. Bute is used to fighting in his adopted country of Canada, filling out arenas with his army full of fans. So this is going to be very different for the undefeated superstar.

I think on this occasion Bute will have too much skill for Froch, he’ll likely use his slick skills and footwork and pick Froch apart with the short-right uppercut. But if Froch can drag Bute into his style of fight and go deep into the trenches then Froch would be favoured. Whatever happens, it’s going to be one hell of a fight and it’s just what Boxing needs.
