By Chris Williams: Episode 1 of Pacquiao-Bradley 24/7 on HBO was painfully boring, and I’m really hoping changes the record for episode 2, because you can only show so much of Pacquiao discussing the bible and how his life changed because he found religion. The HBO people in charge of taping all this mess needs to focus it more on the actual fight itself.
There’s got to be someone in charge of what gets cut out and left on the editing room floor. They’re not just putting everything on, I hope. Whoever is in charge of that job needs to be canned or have someone talk to them because the first episode of Pacquiao-Bradley 24/7 was by far the most boxing episodes I’ve ever seen, and believe me I’ve seen some really boring ones. I still get forget how boring the entire series was when Pacquiao fought Miguel Cotto, and the two had a 24/7 series put together for that one. Man, that was boring.
The director of the current episode needs to give some pointers before they go on camera and maybe snap his fingers or something when Pacquiao goes off topic and starts rambling about this or that. He needs to keep it on the fight and the fight only.
They also need to have Pacquiao switch channels if he starts making excuses again for his dreadful performance against Juan Manuel Marquez. We’ve been there and done that, so doesn’t need to be covered anymore. We already heard Pacquiao’s excuses and the fans that sympathetic to it have already bought it, and the ones who see it as a bunch of baloney have noted it. The director has got to keep him on new stuff.
I’d like to see Pacquiao come up with some new material that doesn’t involve guns or the bible. And I definitely don’t want to hear Freddie Roach or Alex Ariza interviewed. The whole episodes seem to lose focus when those guys get interviewed and it seems like it becomes more about them than Pacquiao. I want the camera on Pacquiao the whole time, and the side players edited it out completely, and that includes Pacquiao’s helpers. I think they need to keep Pacquiao as the focus and I’ve noticed the other episodes lose that. Other people seem to take charge of the 24/7 series and it becomes not even relevant.
