Image: Bunce thinks Froch is making a mistake in facing Bute nowBy Scott Gilfoid: Writer Steve Bunce believes that Carl Froch should have taken an easy fight this time around to test up from the tough fights he had in the Super Six tournament. He sees Froch’s fight against IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute as a mistake on Froch’s part, because he hasn’t had any time to rest up from the series of tough fights he’s had.

Bunce said to the Independent.co.uk “I would rather see Froch in an easier fight, with domestic showdown on the horizon, than up against it on Saturday, against cold-eyed Bute.”

I don’t know about this. I think it might not matter because Froch’s goose is cooked whether he rests up with two or three fodder opponents or if he takes the fight now. It’s one more fight, and he’s able to beat some guys with his fighting style. Froch definitely struggled in the Super Six tournament, losing to Andre Ward, Mikkel Kessler and he should have been given a loss for his fight against Andre Dirrell.

Froch beat Arthur Abraham and Glen Johnson, so that gives him a record of 2-3 in the Super Six tournament. That’s not even 500. I don’t see it really mattering. I mean, I think it’s stupid as heck for Froch to go from the grueling fight he had with Ward straight into the fight with Bute. That’s definitely a bone-headed move if I ever saw one, but at the end of the day it doesn’t make much difference.

Froch is going up against superior firepower and a much superior athlete in Bute. You can rest Froch, but the elements remain the same even afterwards. The fact is Bute is a superior model and he’s like a better computer. He’s got the fast processor and all fast memory to go with it. Froch just doesn’t match up with that kind of a machine, and he’s going to show us as stark example of what happens to a fighter when he’s goes messing around with a superior talent like Bute. Froch is going to get knocked out, and yeah it’s probably going to be a painful body shot. But the good thing is it’ll be over relatively quickly for Froch, so it’s not as if he’ll have to suffer for long.
