Image: Froch Destroys Bute by 5th Round StoppageBy Dallan O’ Donnell: In a stunning upset of bookmakers odds, Carl Froch simply destroyed the then champion, Lucian Bute in a 5th round stoppage.

Froch tore the Canadian to pieces from the 3rd round to 5th. Bute did get shots through and on Carl’s chin but as always Carl walked right through them.

Bute, who was hurt before against Andrade never looked a threat, never worked his southpaw jab and never once looked a winner.

Froch looked superb in claiming his third world title with the win meaning he is now the IBF super-middleweight champion.

There is a re-match clause in the contract which would take place in Montreal, Canada, but will Bute even want the fight? The way Carl took him apart was sensational.

People wrote Froch off from the beginning, saying that Bute was too good and slick but I had Froch pinned a winner days ago. Froch is a level above Bute.

The crowd were in a frenzy with how Froch took the fight to Bute and tore him to shreds.

The referee didn’t stop the fight immediately in the 5th round, thinking the ropes held Bute up, but the Bute corner stepped in to stop the fight.

The Nottingham faithful chanted “easy” at the end of the fight. Rightly so.

Bute’s trainer did say that the “stoppage was good, maybe even a little late.”

Ed Robinson also asked if they regretted taking the fight in the UK, but his trainer said “no, not at all.” He also said that he was “happy” for Carl Froch.

Froch is, now, the main man once again. He will have the pick of opponents now and who would say no to a Froch-Kessler re-match in Nottingham?

That performance is, in my opinion, the greatest in British boxing history. Froch, no matter what next, is one of, if not the best British fighter ever. Well done Carl!
