It sounds good, right? Wrong! Don’t hold your breath waiting for Price to fight any of these guys. It’ll likely be more of the same kinds of guys he’s been facing instead of these guys.

Price said to Talksport.co.uk “I’d say to myself, David Haye, Dereck Chisora and Tyson Fury are the top four in the country. And Sam Sexton was just under that. So unless I fight Haye, Chisora or Fury next time out, it’s not a step forward domestically. We’ll [Frank Maloney, his promoter] have to have a discussion, but I wouldn’t mind fighting a named American, maybe an ex-champion.”

Gee, the guy is almost 30-years-old and STILL fighting domestic level opposition. What’s up with that? Price needs to take the training wheels off before he ages out. Seriously, each good heavyweight I can think of has accomplished more at an earlier age than Price with just as much experience. He needs to be pushed out of the door into the world already unless there’s a reason to be still going slow with him. Is that it? I hope not, because if there’s a worry about Price’s chin failing him again like it did from time to time in the amateur ranks, I don’t see how it’ll help him by waiting any longer. His chin won’t get better. Usually a weak chin stays a weak chin, so he’s just getting older and young talents like Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury will pass him by.

So what old ex-American heavyweight champion could Price be talking about? 50-year-old Evander Holyfield? Good one. Yeah, I guess Price could win that one already, but I don’t see any ex-American heavyweight champions that are still young enough and still relevant enough to justify being picked out so that Price look good.
