Image: Bute with leg infection, fight with Froch could be postponedBy Scott Gilfoid: IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute reportedly has a foot infection that has spread up one of his legs according to boxinginsider.com. The infection could cause Bute’s May 26th fight against former WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch to be postponed while Bute heals.

As of now, the fight is still moving forward as planned. One would hope that the problem doesn’t linger and get in the way of Bute’s training. He can’t go out there against Froch with one good leg another filled with infection. I mean, I think Bute can win under almost any circumstances due to his incredible talent, but fighting with a bad leg would put more pressure on him.

The infection was caused by a blister that Bute developed from wearing new boxing shoes.

Bute is eager to get in the ring with Froch. I guess he can see weakness that he feels he can exploit against the British fighter. To be sure, in looking at Froch’s fighting style with his arms handing down by his sides when he fights, it’s easy to see why Bute wants to fight him to badly.

Froch’s chin is just begging to be punched and his midsection is wide open for a liver shot from Bute. Froch has got a lot of work to do in training camp if he doesn’t want to end up knocked out on the canvas grimacing in pain like a lot of Bute’s recent opponents after getting nailed in the midsection with his power shots.

I wouldn’t want to be facing him if I fought with my hands down by sides like Froch. I’d be in full panic mode trying to learn how to block shots to the body and head. Froch is going to have a hard time unless he fights in a full survival mode from start to finish. I see this fight going badly for him.
