Image: Arum notices how confident Bradley is for Pacquiao fightBy Chris Williams: Bob Arum hasn’t failed to notice how confident and sure Tim Bradley is about his upcoming fight against Manny Pacquiao. Although Arum won’t be negatively affected either way by the outcome of their June 9th fight, because promoters both of the fighters taking part in the bout, he does seem to be a tad bit worried judging by his comments.

Arum told RingTV “Tim Bradley is so confident that it’s scary. I mean, he is absolutely 100 percent convinced that he’s winning the fight.”

Yeah, maybe Arum is having second thoughts about having set Bradley up with the big money fight against Pacquiao, because if Pacquiao loses, Arum will likely be hurt long term when it comes to futire pay-per-view bouts that Pacquiao is involved in. After all, boxing fans often don’t want to continue to pay to see such and such fighters after they sustain bad defeats. They lose interest in a big way.

You know Arum will obviously keep Pacquiao as a pay-per-view fighter even if he gets dominated by Bradley, because there will still be some money to be made with him due to the huge fan base that Pacquiao has. But what would really hurt Arum and Pacquiao is in trying to arrange a future fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Arum won’t be able to ask for a 50-50 money split with Mayweather if Pacquiao can’t even beat Bradley.

A loss to Bradley will likely make permanent Mayweather’s 60-40 deal offer to Manny. I could see Mayweather switching it to 70-30 if Pacquiao gets beaten by Bradley, because there simply wouldn’t be any reason for Pacquiao to get anywhere close to an even 50-50 split with four losses on his resume. Pacquiao would have to slowly but surely work his way back to the point where he could get a 50-50 deal, and I don’t’ think he has enough time before Mayweather retires.
